Lake Lanier has a ton of locations for storing your boat. The list below is dry storage locations, for wet storage facilities please refer to our marina Lake Lanier section.

Choose your Lake Lanier boat storage facility wisely, and make sure to take into consideration security (lighting, alarms, etc.), access (24hr access by keypad or lock), and level of commitment (one year lease, month to month, or quarterly).

Some dry storage facilities have the ability to move your boat into the water with a lift were you can call and schedule a few hours in advance so your boat is setting in the lake by a dock upon your arrival such as is available at Habersham Marina.

There are no subdivision amenities such as pool, tennis, or clubhouse, but your literally minutes from Sunrise Cove Marina, so if boating and fishing, and lazy days on the lake are your thing, then this is a subdivision to consider.

The utilities are all underground, and the lawns are very well landscaped, and appear very well manicured and maintained, leading to the pristine clean look and feel of this relatively young subdivision located in Hall County.

Along with the rollback street curbing, and well maintained lawns, the lantern style street lighting gives Timbercrest subdivision a classic look.

If your home shopping in this area, you must try out Loretta’s Country Kitchen. Loretta’s is one of the best country buffet style breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots I have ever eaten at.

Port Royale Marina is somewhat the Crem-del-a-Crem of the Lake Lanier Marinas. A fairly fresh and new development which is still ongoing, you will not be disappointed with all that is offered here with an environment that will make you feel more like your on vacation at a Florida resort than a marina at Lake Lanier.

I have to hand it to these folks, they have certainly done a bang up job of creating a marina that gives the visitor here a experience rather than just a place to store a boat.

There essentially are two ship stores one with mostly boating supplies on land, and the other is a magnificent first class floating ship store adjacent to the floating Pelican Pete’s Bar & Grill. The ship store located on the floating dock has mostly items such as cold drinks, snacks, souvenirs, sun tan lotion, and inflatable beach toys. The floating ship store has a really neat indoor rock waterfall, and also houses the Paradise Boat Rentals facility.

Pelican Pete’s restaurant is a tiki bar style outdoor covered bar and grill which offers economically priced menu items with hot dogs, hamburgers, and some excellent sandwich choices along with some low cost kid meals.
Pelican Pete’s also has a water play area for kids where they can enjoy playing in water spouts shooting water up from below the dock.

Port Royale is a full service marina offering such accommodations for any size watercraft as, a state of the art dry stack storage with wash racks, and 24hr pump out.

All the facilities at Port Royale Marina are clean, modern, well designed, and fairly new. Like I said before, this is a top of the line first class marina which offers way more than just a spot to store your boat.

The environment here is pretty laid back and quiet, and offers a few nice features.

The Gainesville Marina is home to the slowly becoming famous Skogies Restaurant. The one thing I personally favored about Skogies outside of the friendly service, the excellent food, and the mild acoustic performer that performed later that evening was the fact that their radio station stayed on the 104.7 the fish, which is a family friendly Christian radio popular with most teenage Christians, and there was no alcoholic beverages being served or the weekend rowdy crowds that accompany that.

Gainesville Marina also offers a 10:00am gorgeous lakeside church service under a nice clean well shaded pavilion with almost a 360 degree view of Lake Lanier.

There are several clean well maintained restrooms available, along with a handful of nice shaded picnic tables.

There is a small restaurant called the Sandwich Market, and like with most small local ma & pop restaurants, they carry a classic taste you will only find here.

This sandwich shop has been in existence for twenty years if that tells you something about the high quality. Owned and operated by Derek Downing and Danielle Hines this little sandwich hot spot is a true Lake Lanier jewel.
Heres a hint, try the ruben, it actually won the “Taste of Forsyth” for best sandwich, so as you can see, this is not some low quality spot throwing out some cheap food to tourist types, these folks take this whole sandwich thing seriously.

The bait shack has about all the bait choices you would need for the big ones on Lake Lanier ranging from a decent selection of artificial lures, and live baits ranging from night crawlers to herring for those big striper Lake Lanier has become known for.

The bait shack also has canoe and kayak rental, which you can even rent for overnight, and there’s discussion of bringing in a few small Jon boats for the po man, giving him the ability to troll out into the cove, and have a classic night of fishing for crappie and catfish. And if your in the mood to just sit around and hang out with a lake view, pull up one of the rocking chairs and chill out.

Bald Ridge marina though maybe not set up with a nightlife party lakeside bar atmosphere, it’s a excellent choice for one who desires more of a fishing village environment where they store their boats at.

Aqualand does have all the staple amenities one would likely desire at a marina. They have a fairly large well stocked ship store that’s enjoyable to shop at, and offers supplies such as cold drinks and snacks.

For you lunch and dinner concerns, Aqualand Marina is home to the Dockside grills second location with one location being at Holiday Marina. This dockside grill location is no where near as active or large as the dockside grill at the Holiday Marina, but they still serve excellent grub, especially a very large juicy burger, and you still get a sort of tiki hut Lakeview dining experience.

One amenity I did notice that can be quite useful after a hot day out on Lake Lanier was a nice large and clean bath house with a full shower.

The entire environment of this marina was very clean, and well kept with a guard at the entrance for a added sense of security.

The ship store has a nice rear deck area overlooking Lake Lanier, and a well shaded picnic area at the entrance of the main dock perfect for a cool picnic in between all of your water sports activities.

If your in dyer need of a country buffet style breakfast, lunch, or dinner at a insanely reasonable price, this marina is not too far from Loretta’s Country Kitchen. Like all the locals over the last ten years, try it once, and you will be hooked.

The Dam Store is just a few miles down from Lake Lanier’s Buford Dam, and there is a small cafe next door to them called The Lighthouse Cafe that has excellent quick lunch foods (i.e. hamburgers, chicken, and hotdogs), and the store and cafe both have a lake resort feeling environment.

The Dam Store also offers canoe and kayak rentals…
The canoe rentals are $60.00, and that’s for a 24 hour rental, but if you want to use it in the lake, you have to have something to haul it to the lake in. T

he Kayak rental is $20.00 per person, and includes drop off into the Chattahoochee River at the Buford Dam, and pick up. The entire river trip is around 5.7 miles, and takes approximately 2-1/2 to 3 hours to complete.

Trip times are 10:00am, 12:00pm, and 2:00pm, but can vary depending on water release times for the Buford Dam.

There is no canoe or kayak launching allowed during water release.

Your biscuit choices are Sausage, bacon, country ham, tenderloin, steak, chicken, red hot link, salmon, and plain. You can also add egg, cheese, or sausage gravy too any of the above.

And if you’re not hankerin a biscuit, you really should try the cheese grits, plain grits, hash browns, or their irresistible home made cinnamon rolls.

If your just ready for lunch, they got that to. The lunch menu ranges from hamburgers to hot dogs, fries, chicken sandwich, and some of the best home made spreads you have ever tasted such as chicken salad, pimento, and egg salad sandwiches. You can also top your burger or dawg with slaw or some real messy chili. If these lunch standards don’t appeal, you can opt for their BBQ sandwich that can compete with many of the big name BBQ hot spots in Georgia.

The tea is true southern, made fresh, clean tastin, with the absolutely required lemon demanded by us southern folks.

upon first glance this spot looks like a little hole in the wall stubbed on the end of a small strip center, but come on inside, taste the grub, and you will soon know how these guys have made it for five years catering to the local southern crowd that takes their breakfast biscuits real serious like.

Then You gotta visit Skogies…

This place beyond excellent and very fair priced food definitely has environment. There’s very well cooled air-condition inside dining with a Lakeview, and also outdoor patio dining with a nice shaded screened in patio with nice ambient lighting and ceiling fans spinning fast to keep a nice breeze going even on the warmer days.

Oh yea, the food. The Asian grouper sandwich is a must experience once delicacy which is available grilled, fried, Cajun, blackened, lemon pepper, or parmesan. The Asian grouper can be ordered as a half or a whole.

Skogies cooks up fresh a chicken sandwich available grilled, lemon pepper, blackjack, fried, fried then buffaloed, or fried then skogiefied. 

Skogies also offers the basic po-boys, wraps, and burgers.

The appetizers range from hips & salsa, to fried shrimp, to a excellent grouper fingers or a make your own quesadilla. You can also order a sampler platter, a salad, or the best seafood gumbo in the State of Georgia by the cup or the bowl. Trust me, get the bowl, or you will just wind up double ordering like I did.

And for dinner, the choice of entrees will likely satisfy any appetite. Get the shrimp order with twelve shrimp, and two sides, cooked in a variety of styles from fried to grilled, to lemon pepper, to coconut.

And as they say, the meat loaf is so delicious it will make you want to spank someone. Even if you have to return several times, which after your first visit, you most likely will, you at one point need to try the fried oysters, ten oysters fried to perfection with a delightful cocktail sauce and two sides.

It also just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t bring your attention to the 12 Oz’s of high quality black angus chopped steak sautéed with green pepper, onion, and fresh mushrooms with two sides.

The views from this small literally floating bar and grill are spectacular, and within minutes you will most likely have a mood change. If you want to feel like your on a ocean vacation right here in Georgia, then you must visit this restaurant.

The entire environment is Jimmy Buffet beach with the feel of a bayside grill in the Florida keys.

This Lake Lanier jewel is built on a large dock floating in Lake Lanier, with a walking ramp leading down to the restaurant. Attached is a ship store full of goodies ranging from souvenirs to ice cold drinks, sunglasses, and inflatable water toys. The attached ship store also has a awesome waterfall right in the middle of the store.

One huge highlight is the small kids water play area located right beside the seating area. Kids get in the rising water fountains, and can play and stay cooled off for hours on end while mom and dad relax, dine and socialize.

Well enough said about the environment, you will just have to visit Pelican Pete’s to get the real feel, lets talk about he food. I have driven to this place by boat on many occasions, and had the opportunity to try several of the menu items, and I have personally never been disappointed.

The main menu items are burgers and dogs, and some of the best sandwiches you have ever tasted. The prices are extremely fair and economical especially given the extraordinary environment. I would eat here on a regular basis even without having the fantastic environment. The Royale Hamburger is stated as being a juicy 1/2 pound lean burger, and I can tell you that juicy is an understatement. This sucker will fill you up and make a mess at the same time.

The pulled pork sandwich is good enough to stand up to about any BBQ stand in Georgia, and you can wash it all down with a cold beer or a strawberry daiquiri. And if your feeling Mexican, the crazy quesadilla is a must try. The quesadilla crust is just the right amount of crispness with the perfect mix of Mexican cheeses, and add chicken and onions, and you have the perfect evening meal in a lush good mood environment. Try visiting in time to watch a sunset you will never forget.
